PI Response - STFC Specific Guidance
STFC offers its grant applicants the opportunity to respond to reviews received against a proposal. Any comments received will be provided to the panel who will be assessing your proposal. You should ensure that you use this opportunity to address any questions/inaccuracies that have been raised by reviewers. It is not a chance to re-write your case for support. In order to meet the page limits please concentrate on only the major issues.
The reviews can be viewed under the menu option 'View reviewer comments'. Your response should be in A4 format with a maximum of half a page per review. Responses must be brief in addressing the key issues raised by the reviewers. If an applicant exceeds this limit the response will be rejected. Please note for Particle Physics Consolidated grants there is no set limit but the guideline is half a page per review.
For consolidated grants please also identify which review you are writing about by quoting the Reviewer Reference. The response should cover all reviews received and should be altered if necessary if a late review is provided to stick within the defined limits.
Please complete and submit your response by the due date stated - this is normally ten working days after receipt of the invitation. For Consolidated grants you may be given longer due to the volume of reviews that you will need to respond to.
All attachments should be written in one of the following fonts:
standard Arial 11pt (please note that this is the preferred font for STFC)
Helvetica Regular 11pt or
an equivalent regular 11pt sans serif universal font e.g. FreeSans
with a minimum of 2 cm margins around each page. You do not need to number attachment pages as this will be done automatically on import to the STFC Back Office. Please ensure that file names do not exceed 140 characters as this will cause problems on import into the STFC Back Office.
Unless specified otherwise, you have up to 23:59 on the due date to submit the document.
