EPSRC - Specific Requirements

Format

All documentation should be clear and legible and conform to the following requirements:

The Case for Support should be clear, concise and uncluttered with technical jargon. Font size 11 is the minimum font that is acceptable and page margins should be at least 2 cm in all directions. Applications containing a Case for Support exceeding the page limit, or not adhering to the specified format, will not be considered.

The attachments listed below are mandatory. Other optional attachment types may be available.

The following guidelines should be noted.

Case for Support (maximum 9 sides of A4. An additional 2 pages is required for Open Plus fellowship applications to describe the Plus component)

Please refer to the fellowship call document for guidance on content and layout.

 

Justification of Resources (maximum two sides of A4)

The Research Councils have agreed revised guidance notes for the completion of the Justification of Resources attachment in Je-S. Details are available here.

 

Diagrammatic Workplan (maximum one side A4)

The project should be illustrated with a simple diagrammatic workplan, e.g. a PERT or Gantt chart.

 

Narrative CV (maximum four sides A4)

Candidates must attach to their application a CV (maximum 4 sides A4), answering a series of questions in a narrative format. Please refer to the fellowship call document and the applicant guidance for the expected content of this document.

 

List of Publications (no page limit)

The EPSRC Open Fellowship Scheme requires a blank document to be uploaded under the list of publications attachment type. A publications list with content within the document will not be accepted and your proposal will be returned for amendment. 

 

Host Organisation Statement (maximum two sides of A4)

The statement should be on Departmental or University headed paper, should be dated, and should clearly state the position held by the author (e.g. Head of Department of Electrical Engineering etc). Guidance on the content of this statement, if required, can be found in the Call document for the Fellowship being applied for.

 

Proposal cover letter (maximum two sides of A4)

Outlining to which fellowship priority area you believe your application is relevant. This letter will only be seen by EPSRC and will not be sent to peer review. It is EPSRC's ultimate responsibility to assign applications to the priority area, and proposals outside the specific remit of these topics will be rejected before peer review.

 

Statements of Support (no page limit)

Statements of Support should be included from all partner organisations that are making a contribution, either direct or indirect, to the project and are not drawing from the resources requested in the proposal. These organisations must be named on the application as Project Partners. Statements or letters of Support should only be included from Project Partners named on the application. Letters of Support from anyone else will not be accepted.

Statements of support should be written by the Project Partner as part of the grant application. The statement should be provided on headed paper with a date and the signature of the named contact in the collaborating organisation.
